Vans Slip On Shoe Review
« on: April 26, 2010, 12:58:26 AM »
First Thoughts 10/10  I love Vans, and the simplicity of this shoe's look. Not having to tie laces, or worry about laces ripping made these sexy, and the checkers were a plus as well.

Comfort 10/10
These are pure canvas, making the inner very smooth, and soft for your feet.

Padding 2/10  Very thin EVA, and no heel gel pad, or removable insole. These are going to be bruising your feet if on almost anything but flatground, or ledges. I only skated ledges, flatground, and a few small drops without any heel bruises luckily. Anything more I suggest a hi impact insole of some sort like Dr. Scholls.       Boardfeel 10/10  These are very thin soled shoes, and have very little EVA in them, making them have a very "barefoot" like feel to most. Being vulcanized only makes it better.      Grip 10/10  It's Vans, what the **** do you think? Self explanatory. Gum soled, and the  classic waffle grip makes these sticky as glue. Very durable as well.      Durability 6/10  Pretty decent for a canvas shoe. The first thing to wear down was the midsole(the white part), and that took several weeks (4-5). Next came the canvas which lasted about 1-2 sessions. But Shoe-Goo definitely helps if you really want to get the full life out of these. Overall it's better then what you'd think a canvas shoe could withstand.

Overall 8/10  With the minor set back of durability, and lack of padding, these are good for just about any type of skating you want to do. They give off the "chill" shoe look, but I put these to the test, and they held their own decently. I'm pleased with the overall performance of these seeing how they weren't as built for skating as many other shoes. In conclusion, I recommend these highly even if you don't plan skating them because these a re a skate classic, they have tons of colorways to choose from, and they're very cheap ($25-40). So next time you see some, try them out, and see what they'll do for you.

I have a pair of them, except they have these stoned looking dogs on them.  Might try them out for skating seeing as I don't really use them for anything else.
